High Caffeine Intake During Pregnancy May Increase Risk for Miscarriage

A high intake of caffeine during pregnancy increased the risk for miscarriage, according to the results of a population-based, prospective cohort study reported in the January 21 Online First issue of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

However, critics speculate that miscarriage risk appears higher with caffeine intake because women with morning sickness, who are more likely to carry a pregnancy to term, avoid caffeine.
